Exciting News from the Maths Department

25 Excellent North High Mathematicians

Exciting news from the Maths Department!

(Two of five North teams win at MacDonalds’ Maths Comp — All do well)

On Tuesday 27 May, we had 25 of our top Maths students travel to Pioneer State High for the annual McDonald Mathematics Competition.  Students work in teams of five answering challenging problem solving questions. We had five teams compete, two Senior (Year 12s and 11s), two Junior teams (Year 10s and 9s) and one Year 8 team. Our 25 students plus five accompanying teachers all returned with huge smiles on their faces saying it was a fun, positive and rewarding day. To top the day off, I am pleased to announce that we had two teams come first.

I would like to thank the teachers Ms Keioskie, Ms Winzar, Ms Kelly, Mrs McMurtrie and Mrs Gilbert for giving up their lunch hours to help coach the students and for accompanying the students on the day.  A big thank you also goes to the following students who represented Mackay North High with great pride:
