Year 8 Activities Days

Year 8 students had the opportunity to get out of the classroom for a few days and have a taste of many different activities.  They travelled to Kinchant Dam and took part in archery, raft building, canoeing and team building activities.  At the Cultural Hut, students were taught about Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and South Sea Islander cultures.  They did Aboriginal art, listened to and played a thongaphone, played indigenous games and learned some important information about the South Sea Islander background.  When the students returned to school on Wednesday, they were given a taste of some of the elective subjects they can choose from for Year 9 – Manual Arts, Home Economics, Art, Dance and Drama.

Students finished the activities days on a high with the school Interhouse Cross Country – congratulations Bagley!  These days were all about building relationships and meeting new people.  After filling out surveys, it was pleasing to see that much of the feedback from students said that they enjoyed making new friends and getting out of normal routine for a few days.  The most popular activity of the days was the raft building, although I’m not too sure that many of them stayed afloat!
